Blue Sweater – Fall Feels

I’m finally getting into the Fall vibe here in LA! I’ve never experienced a Fall/Winter in another state so I am excited for the change! If you’re from California definitely let me know what to expect! I’m definitely used to going to pumpkin patches, drinking Pumpkin Spiced Lattes and carving pumpkins in Texas… wow that’s a lot of pumpkin activities…

What are your favorite Fall activities?

Tried something a bit different for this shoot. Not too sure if I like it yet, but I’m definitely liking it for fall! I love a sweater and shorts combo! Totally does not make sense.. but it does at the same time!

Okay also I cannot live without these sunglasses and these necklaces recently! They have been (and will continue to be) a staple for me and my wardrobe! I cannot wait to share more looks! I have been trying to go a bit edgier with my outfits!

BIRTHDAY POST

Today is a very special post because today is my birthday! I turn 23 years old today. Such a crazy thing to think about! Honestly all of the really good birthday years are behind me it feels like, so I wanted to do something fun this year to celebrate! I went to Dallas with my best friends and I couldn’t have been more excited! Since I am in Los Angeles, being away from all of my friends makes me miss them like crazy, so I am so excited to be able to spend the weekend with them somewhere I’ve never been before to celebrate my special day!

I planned on spending my actual birthday with my parents and my brother since I leave back to Los Angeles tomorrow and I am actually really excited to go back to work! Okay so this is going to be a bit of a jumbled post with a few different elements. Bear with me, and I hope you enjoy!

Uptown : Great for going out, getting into a fun club and somewhere to dress up a bit fancier than Deep Ellum for going out!

Coffee Talk : What I do as a Public Relations Intern

Okay, while I’m not exactly an intern anymore, I still have a hard time considering myself a full time employee. Techinically I am a free lance PR agent. I wanted to answer this because I always get a lot of questions from my friends and family about what I do exactly. I never thought about answering this on the blog but I thought it would be a good idea for my new Coffee Talk series. Also who can resist a good blog post while hanging out at a cute coffee shop like Alfred’s Coffee? My ideal Sunday afternoon!

Public relations is very different from advertising. Advertising is when you pay to get your message to the target audience and public relations requires a lot of pitching and proper wording. I work for an agency that deals directly with artists. The agency serves as a middle man connecting an artists (painter, sculpter, etc.) to the press.

I build a lot of media lists which is just a list of media contacts. I send emails to writers, journalists, editors and segment producers about what our creative clients are working on; whether it be an exhibition, new art piece or event. I also work largely on their social media content.

Public relations really is just a liason between a client and their target audience by means of media interaction.

Trend Spotlight : White Booties

I think I can predict white booties to be an upcoming trend this Fall and Winter seasons. White shoes in general have been a huge hit and there were so many options from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale that I think everyone is getting their hands on! Here is how I styled my newest pair as well as a few that I have linked for you to check out! These have been also been in my Wish List Tab so check that out for my latest ‘wants’ and ‘must-buy’ items!

Another shoe trend I have been seeing in booties is the open side, I think it’s a cute detail and I am all for it! Something different that is simple and so chic!

Ready Set Sun with PrettyLittleThing

When I shop I like to have a few items I want in mind! A cute swimsuit, a gold necklace, a fun skirt! It’s the easiest way for me to shop online! PrettyLittleThing definitely gets it too! I shopped the vacation shop before I came to California and trust me I could not resist!

This white skirt I just had to have! The style was adorable and to be honest I’m a sucker for a sweet skirt! PrettyLittleThing also has a variety of styles and that’s what I love. If you’re a girly girl like me or even super chic and glam, there are pieces every girl will find. Also can we just take a second and talk about prices?! They are affordable and the material is great! Pieces that are durable and affordable.

What’s your favorite piece to wear for a day out in the summer sun? This is obviously mine!

Thrifting around Melrose

Okay I have to brag about all of the amazing finds I have bought since I have gotten to LA. I have of course done some thrift shopping here and there, but never like in California! My sorority sister who also happens to be my roommate here in LA told me about a place called Crossroads which is like an upscale plato’s closet.

I did not really want to go at first but then she took me and I saw what she meant. The idea is the same and it’s the same as a consignment store where people sell their gently used clothes but the pieces are almost all designer!

I bought a lace up body suit by Reformation (similar)

This white Free People top, a one x one teaspoon gray jean shorts, the fringe Steve Madden Bag (similar)

Platform Steve Madden sneakers

A maroon pair of TopShop pair of slacks for work

A killer red dress with a peplum bottom (similar)… AND

A new pair of nude Jimmy Choo heels (similar) all for about $300!

I also plan on going to a few of the basic places like American Vintage and Wasteland as well. There was another place on Melrose as well where I found the Jimmy Choos and there was literally racks of designers by brand! Ah so I guess moral of the story is to shop for unique designer pieces half the price along Melrose as well as that there are many photo ops along the way!

Maxi Skirt Throwback

So the reason I said this is a throwback is because I wore this almost exact outfit a year or two ago when I went to California. I obviously like to save this maxi for fun occasions! I paired it with a white top that I tied last time and this time I added some bright turquoise earrings and a light pink cross body. I really never wear my hair up for blog posts but this day was a bit hot after all the walking around geneva!

Switzerland was never high on my list of places to travel. I always heard it was beautiful but I wanted to visit Paris, Rome, Italy and Greece before I started venturing to new places. When I heard that the study abroad was going I thought hmm, still worth a try and I submitted the application. I was super excited when I was accepted and the whole trip was beyond amazing!

Geneva was truly gorgeous, clear water, mountains in the background, nice locals and amazing food. We walked all around the city and while we were there the pope even came! I tried to see him but there was a conflict with our media visits.

BACK TO THE MAXI! I love a good yellow especially one that brightens up my skin tone! The jean jacket made the look a little more casual and neutral along with the pony hair which I think made the look a little better for the daytime. Also these sweet earrings went well with the bright yellow without over doing it!
