Who What Wear Event

The great thing about LA is that there are always amazing pop-ups here! They can be hard to keep up with, but when I hear about a great one, I definitely have to attend! Who What Wear is one of the go-to places for beauty, fashion, and entertainment! For someone like me that works in the fashion industry and has a blogging side hustle, this is a great place to keep up with the trends!

I attended The Line Up by Who What Wear on both Friday and Saturday and it was a cannot miss event! They had a killer bar for samples where you get to pick out which ones you want to take home, and some amazing products to try and hear more about.

For a girl like me who has only one go-to makeup look, this was a life saver! (I am going to do a whole other blog post on the makeup tips and tricks I learned next!

I was lucky enough to be able to attend two of the masterclasses with celebrity makeup artists Pati Dubroff whose clients include Margot Robbie, Priyanka Chopra and Elizabeth Olsen and fellow makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan whose clients include Millie Bobby Brown, Kelsea Ballerini, and Sabrina Carpenter!

I learned so many helpful tips and tricks I had NEVER heard of and let me tell you did they work! I am that girl that will sit there taking notes on her phone for every detail I did not know!

Let’s talk samples! Who What Wear is, of course, a well-known company and had amazing samples to show for it. They brought together amazing, well-known

brands such as Anastasia Beverly Hills, Deva Curl, Boscia, Too Faced, Dyson and more! I even received a bag of Chanel products from one of the masterclasses.

As for the outfit, this is something I felt totally comfortable wearing all day. I am in love with the floral pattern against the all black. Also, I cannot get over these boots, they were a Christmas present to myself and I am beyond obsessed with them! They are so comfortable and I did not need to break them in like normal boots. I think everyone needs a pair no matter what part of the country you are from!

Must-have Boots for Fall

If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I have been raving about ShoeDazzle and their boots for Fall! Yes, this is a collaboration and I am getting two boots per month for free, but I do want to share that if you want shoes that are inexpensive and trendy then you should check these out!

They do tend to have pretty high heels so you have to be ready to add some insoles or be able to walk in higher heels.

Shoe dazzle does accommodate and has a variety of sizes. (I actually wasn’t paid or told to write a blog post on this by the way) I have super small feet but I still know how to shop and find cute pairs for my size. Also, many of the boots have an option for a bigger calf if that is something that you need as well!

The snakeskin boots are BEYOND killer! I got soooo many compliments and they are the epitome of sexy! They are also really great for Fall because they do have a thin lining on the inside that will keep you warm.

These boots were one of my favorites as well! The gold accent at the toe is my favorite and gives it a bit of a western feel which is of course right up my alley! Plus everyone needs a killer black thigh high!

I can’t go wrong with a pink bootie especially with a faux animal skin. It basically is my whole Instagram aesthetic! These I will say are true to size so just a heads up when you order.

These boots are actually a bit different than what I am used to but I went with it and I think they are so cool for Fall. You have to have different pieces that will set you apart and that was these for me!

When is it okay to copy

Copying someone is the sincerest form of flattery. While I do believe this I actually hate when people copy me. I copy people all the time though! Very hypocritical for sure! But I get my best inspiration from others. I am working on allowing myself to be flattered of course.

When I find something I really like (and it’s mostly clothing inspiration) I always screenshot it or save it to my notes. I am HUGE when it comes to notes and describing things for me to remember.

I actually got inspiration for this outfit from multiple bloggers on my Instagram feed! I loved the look of the shirt because I saw it everywhere! I just had to have it for myself because it answered the three questions from my last blog post. I also really like playing up a long sleeve with shorts and these shoes just went so perfectly I had to add them.

Some of my tips:

  • Tell someone you really like it and even that you want to recreate the idea behind it
  • Make it your own and put a personal twist on it
  • Give them credit for being your inspiration

Thank you again to Lulu’s for gifting me with this amazing top! I have honestly been wearing it non-stop and this belt bag is to DIE for. My shoes were also gifted from ShoeDazzle and I am head over heels for the thigh-high snake print because I cannot resist a good thigh-high!

What’s your favorite type of shoe?

When to be EXTRA

I am on the fence about if I would wear this to work, Fully clothed of course! But honestly the more I look at these pictures the more I am convinced that I should definitely do it! I always have a weird feeling wearing blazers for some reason. While I LOVE the way they look on me, I feel like I am playing dress-up since I always remember my momma wearing blazers to work. So to me, I am not at that point in my life quite yet, so I feel like I look extra. While this is probably all in my mind, I thought it would be a good idea to reflect on just when it is a good idea to be extra.

What is something you would feel like your ‘doing the most’ if you were to wear?

There are multiple times I think it is just a good idea to be extra

  • Going out to a club for a fun night with friends
  • Going on a first date (somewhere nice of course)
  • On a birthday or special occasions like a graduation or other celebration
  • When you really just feel like wearing something different!

My style ranges SO much! I love being able to try on a new look and not have to stick to one aesthetic. However, sometimes when I wear something that is more chic, or drastic, or dresses up, I do get more stares or more compliments or whatever it may be. While it doesn’t bother me, I do feel a bit weird because I always want my outfits to kind of be on the same level. This just isn’t possible though when your style ranges so much!

Let’s talk about this look. I was gifted this super chic set from Showpo! I am so blessed to have the opportunity to work with such a cool company, especially one that I have been shopping from for years!

I love the classic plaid because it looks great not only on my skin tone, but pretty much everyone’s as well! It even has shoulder pads which seriously made me think of my mom’s old blazers! The piece is thin but sturdy so I know I will be able to keep these pieces for a long time. The thing about a killer set like this is that you can wear it so many different ways! Together, separate, with jeans or with a tank, the possibilities are endless!

Moving to LA

I get questions from people all the time who want to move to LA. I also get compliments on actually moving out here. What people do not get is that it is not easy to pick up your life and just up and move. And on top of that, it’s not just the newness of a different city or being away from family and friends. For people who really want to move somewhere else you need to think about having extra money. Money for when your days don’t go right and you want to buy food, or when your sick and need to see a doctor, or when your tight budget does not align right. If you are on a tight budget don’t even think about moving to LA unless you have extra back up cash totaling at least $3,000 because life happens y’all.

My rant is not even close to over. So feel free to scroll through the pretty pictures, leave a cute comment and be on your way because I’m still typing away guys.

Say you have a dream of moving somewhere like New York or LA. It’s sooo hard if you do not have the proper support behind you. No, I’m not talking about good wishes from your dear family and closest friends. I’m talking about cash and a reliable car and a place to live. Know that if you live here you have to have a place to stay. And to have a place to stay you probably need a job. And to get a job you also need a place to stay nearby to be able to go for interviews. Are you seeing what I’m getting at? Its a vicious cycle of both needing each other and that hardly ever happens at the same time.

People do not realize that for the most part, I am all alone. I don’t have family here or real friends. I am slowly getting there luckily because I blog and can reach out to girls. But let me tell you it takes time to make friends when you don’t have common interests with girls especially ones that already have a friend group.

And if you are an introvert FORGET IT. Good luck because it will take you even longer. But I am guessing if you are an introvert you aren’t even keen on moving somewhere new by yourself anyway.

I feel like people think that moving to a new city, especially to pursue your “dream” is a lot like the movie Coyote Ugly. She has a hard time in the beginning and even goes as far as being robbed. But in the next few hours, she finds the coolest job, meets a super cool guy and gets to sing all she wants. EHHHHHH wrong. Yes, I’m sure every once in a while it happens but hate to burst your bubble but ups and downs come and go daily.

Now all of this to say I just want to be realistic to the people who tell me they are “thinking about moving” to LA or anywhere really. I’m not saying don’t do it. I’m saying think it all the way through. Because life isn’t la-la land. Your car will break down and you won’t have anyone to help tow it (happened to me), something bad will happen and your parents will have to fly out to help you (happened to me) and you’ll have a terrible day where you run out of money or you just get too homesick. How are you going to get your car to your new city? What is it like paying taxes for the new job you hope to get because you probably haven’t even gotten it yet. Will you have money to come home for holidays because your savings could be gone in an instant if you get sick or hurt.

I’m not trying to be pessimistic, I just think this was a blog post that needed to be said since everyone undercuts how difficult it can be. Okay, rant over. *drops mic*

Western Wear

Being from Texas, I love any excuse I get to wear my boots! Boots are like one of those pieces that can tell your age. I started off with little pink boots because obviously, I love pink. I went through a phase where I just loved color in general so I had purple boots next. Being so small my foot did not grow much so these are the next boots I bought. The first real boots I have! I then later bought another pair that describe me super well now and they have long fringe so they look so fun when I dance! It’s just like that old saying, you can take the girl out of Texas (and move her to California) but you can’t take the Texas out of the girl!

Western was a bit of a hit recently. It popped up in a few places and I really loved what Show Me Your Mumu did with their western line! I also found a look pretty similar to this on one of my newer favorite places to shop, Verge Girl. Even though they are Australian based, they still hit the nail on the head with their look! I just had to copy it!

While the trend is slowly dying down, as most trends do, the boots are here to stay! Black boots paired with looks are lingering and are like the leftover part of the western trend in my opinion. BUT if you live somewhere like Texas boots are always in style! I linked a few of my favorites below in a range of prices for you to check out! Some are just for style, and some are for going out to a country concert in a dirt-filled lot. (Those are the best concerts in my opinion!!)

Would you wear more of a western look?

What would you say would be your hometown staple piece?
