Old-ish Blog Post

Taking a look back at one of my old-ish posts! I loved collab-ing with Dermovia and I I loved the charcoal mask! So cool that the piece had been on the Ellen show! The lace part of the mask worked so well and really held the charcoal in place!

Making New Friends through Bumble BFF

Being out here in LA can get kind of lonely sometimes. While I have made friends with my roommates, I wish I had my friends back home here with me to hang out with. Even every once in a while to go eat with me or go see a movie. Well, cute the Bumble app. I actually have used the app and I did meet a few girls. Meeting friends is like dating, maybe even harder because you are trying to form a real bond. It can be awkward at first but it’s great because you both are trying to form a genuine connection.

I recently was invited to a Bumble BFF meet up and let me tell you it did not disappoint! (Except for the fact that they only paid for half of the valet parking even though they said they would pay for the whole thing, but I’ll let it slide I guess…) BESIDES THAT.. the brunch tasted amazing, it was a four-course brunch complete with chia pudding and fruit, four types of toast/spread combos from avo toast to a ricotta and berry spread, even one topped with Salmon, then eggs and potatoes and fresh cookies and strawberry shortcake to end it!

So I am used to going to meetups with bloggers, but this one was totally different. I was able to meet ladies who recently moved it LA, who struggle to make friends with co-workers, and just want someone to invite to happy hour! (These were real conversations we had.) We spoke about how its harder to make friends out of college because you don’t have that same factors in common like going to school or meeting in the cafe. It is hard to make friends with coworkers because people usually separate work from fun and one person has to reach out first. I would say be that person! Reach out and talk about more than the weather or a big project. Really ask about their weekend, what music they like, if they have any pets! Find that commonality and grow from it!

I met a lot of new girls and I will be redownloading the app now that I will not have roommates anymore here in LA. I will definitely be reaching out to new girls and I honestly want to try Bumble Bizz now! I haven’t tried it out, but I heard good things at this meet up so I am very excited to try it out.

Have you tried Bumble Bizz or Bumble BFF? What did you think?

And did I mention the event was hosted by Tanya Rad? For those of you that do not know this super funny, genuine lady, Tanya co-hosts a podcast called ‘Scrubbing In’ and also the co-host on Ryan Seacrest’s morning show “On Air with Ryan’ so it was really exciting to get to network with her! Go listen to her podcast and tune in if you’re in the LA area! You know I will be!

Coffee Talk : Let’s Talk Trends

Not going to lie. I am a sucker for a good trend! I am usually one of the first to see it coming (I’d like to think) and love when it hits its fullest potential! When it dies out is usually the worst part because that is when more knockoffs and fewer quality items emerge. Then its pretty dead to me, unfortunately, and on to the next one!

Some trends last a while, obviously. And my favorite kinds are the ones that come back around. Espadrilles Summer of 2017 and 2018, am I right? The ones that are the more exclusive are the ones that hit hard but fade out and you probably won’t see again for a while. One example of these I would imagine would be chunky white sneakers. I really wanted a pair of Filas but I just wasn’t convinced I would wear them often. While I could have made 2-3 blog posts with them, I am sure I would not have worn them much other than that. That is where I draw the line at trends.

What you have to keep in mind is the quality. You should only pay for quality and you should splurge when you feel like you will really enjoy the piece, especially after the trend dies.

For example

I went to Target recently and saw a cool cheetah print top. Obviously, animal prints are huge right now. So I got my size but wasn’t too convinced. I thought of two outfits I could pair it with, and even though it was only about $12 I still wasn’t sold. I walked around the whole store with it, contemplating my purchase. I finally decided against it because if it were not for the animal print, I would not wear it. TREND ALERT. I ended up buying a $9 faux snakeskin belt from Tobi instead that I totally love! I will wear it even after the trend dies because I love a fun belt, the colors are neutral so I can wear it with almost anything, and I can get lots of use out of it while animal print is a hit.

Moral of the story, think before you buy. Every piece has a price other than the number that is marked on it. Trends come and go and sometimes they are so worth it. Even if you know its a trend but still want to participate, go for a cheaper option. Just make sure that it looks quality and will last you until the trend dies out.

Frisky Britches x Briana Nicole

At the end of every Summer, right before I would go to school, my mom would take me to go get new clothes. I always went to private, Catholic school so I wore uniforms. The one thing I did get to pick out though was my underwear. I would always get to buy new underwear from wherever I wanted before I began school. I guess it was because she thought I outgrew them? But it was great! I thought about it the other day because now I no longer attend school, but I feel underwear is one of those items you still need to be buying to treat yourself (and out of necessity) every once in a while.

Bring in Frisky Britches. If you’re like me and do not always have time to be going to the store to treat yourself to a cute new pair, this subscription service will help! Honestly, I love subscription services because every month it is a gift from you, to you! The best part is it cost only $14! Super cheap for two pairs of some much-needed undergarments!

There are three different packages to choose from : The Kitten that has two cheekies, The Kitty with one thong and one cheeky, and The Kougar with two thongs. I went for The Kitty to try out both products. I am wearing the cheeky in the pictures and I love how it fits! I am wearing a size small and they were so comfortable I wore them all day, even after the shoot!

In all honesty, this is what I wear when I am home 90% of the time anyway, a big shirt and some cute panties! So I might as well feel good about what I am wearing whether I am home or not!

Are you one of those girls that hate the word panties? I actually am the total opposite! I love that word, I think its super feminine and fun, just like the garment itself!

Minimalistic

Being a minimalist doesn’t mean you own one pair of shoes, a pair of jeans, or only take pictures in front of plain white walls! I really like to mix up my style so you could see me on a Monday in a leopard skirt and big fluffy sweaters, and then Tuesday with a pair of jeans and a white tee. I love playing around with what I wear and for my days off you will always see me in denim and a simple top because it’s my go-to!

One of my roommates and I recently joked about how we try to save our money and every once in a while we splurge and buy some flashy new accessories, but still like to be considered a minimalist! So it got me thinking… what is a minimalist and can do dress as one without being one?

So first thing I thought of with this outfit was the beach because when I go to the beach I really like to keep it simple. I take a towel, sunscreen, and a hat/sunglasses. Minimalist. This outfit is simple and easy, but what makes a minimalist outfit? Does it depend on the simplicity of the outfit, or maybe even the make of the pieces itself?

Would you consider a look minimalist if it costs an insane amount of money?

A few definitions of minimalist included : reduced to its necessary elements ; it is based on a need instead of want.

So I guess the answer to the above question depends on you and the piece itself. When it comes down to it though, did you need the piece? And what is the level of need? I think my answer would be no, but it also does not depend on the cost at all.

I think it is important to be minimalist in one area, with waste. Okay total turn for the post, not gonna lie! But I thought it was important to spread the awareness! (If you’ve made it this far in the post.) Being aware of your effect on others and the environment is so important. It can be so simple to reduce your carbon footprint. From using reusable bags and recycling, to selling and rebuying clothes. Support organizations that do their part as well and buy from sustainable brands first. This will encourage other brands and ultimately people to take part in this movement! Don’t forget to stress the little things, it will go a long way!

My Favorite Accessories of the Moment

Recently I’ve been trying to stick to more plain looks, white or gray tops and denim, but what sets the looks apart are accessories. I’ve noticed a few trends from other bloggers and I wanted to share a few of my own as well, especially for the summer months! I’ve worn these accessories on repeat through out summer and I do not plan to stop anytime soon. I love how easily they go with any outfit and how easily they are worn.
