What I learned from Festival Season

This past weekend was one crazy weekend! Since it was my first brush with Coachella I was so glad I was able to attend with Gina since she has gone the past four years. While there are so many things to learn still, of course, I wanted to just state a few of the things that stuck out to me the most!

Time : I would recommend not having a strict schedule! Everything is so far apart and walking can take a long time as well! Go with the flow, and for things you really want to be at, plan ahead!

Plan your looks ahead of time : You do not want to worry about what you will be looking like when you are there, you just want to get to the fun! Try on your looks before you leave and write down what accessories go with each look so that you can just change and go!

Bring a jacket for the night time : If you plan to be at Coachella all day into the night you will want a jacket! The winds can get pretty chilly especially if you are having to walk back to your car or Uber

Uber : This one kind of goes with the time one. Ubers can be hard to locate at times and the reception was spotty at one point so give yourself some extra time for this one!

Go with a group : I had so much fun with Gina, and I am so glad it was us two! Most people were in groups and that just seemed like so much fun to me too! All I would say with this one though is to make sure you stick with a person, it can get pretty crazy and confusing there if it’s your first time like me!

This look was the most Coachella look I had! I loved it and wore it all day this day! I had a braid in my hair with gold rings, a fringe skirt, and gold jewelry and I loved it! I got so many compliments on this look as well, and I was able to stay in it without feeling uncomfortable since it was considerably comfy!

Coachella Party Musts

We attended lots of Coachella parties and events through-out weekend one! Luckily we were able to get into a few that were more exclusive and I just wanted to do a short recap of the events we attended if you did not get to follow my Instagram stories!

Should I create a highlight for my weekend one stories on my Instagram?

The very first event we attended was a Prism Pop-up which was located at a house in palm springs. There was a whole boutique by the pool, makeup touch-ups by Pixi and hydro facials by skin laundry. These little pop-ups are always so fun to me because of how quaint they are and of course the free stuff!

After that, we attended the Vampped party which had a Harley Davidson pop-up and hair done by Sugar Bear! These pictures were taken at this party. This one was at a mansion in the desert. There were great DJ’s at this one and I had the most fun dancing here (as you can see!)

We got to attend the ‘You Had To Be There’ party by Adidas which was the most interesting seeing as we could not have our phone at this one! They were put away in pouches that we kept, but the point was to be in the moment and enjoy it all. I understand completely, however, I wish I could have shot here because the view was amazing! They also had the cutest food trucks, some free Adidas pieces and places to play basketball, soccer and more! Also, Diplo played so that was pretty cool too!

After that, we attended an event held by Deep Space Productions. They had the best hair braiding and another super fun DJ! I never dance to house music really but this weekend I was up to my ears in it!

One of the last events was another pop-up at another large house. There were lots of freebies here from sunglasses to handmade jewelry and of course all of the carbonated water and kombucha you would want!

I loved attending these events and I think next year I want to go to both the parties for weekend one and then just go to Coachella for weekend two!

On to the outfit details! I was OBSESSED with this look because it is SO me. I am all for a natural look and so these light wash denim shorts and see through pearl tank were perfect! I paired it with my mauve colored hat and light pink booties and if you know me this is my ideal outfit. If I had to pick a look to wear every single day it would be this one hands down! My makeup was done by the Pixi beauty artist and while I never really use that much glitter, I loved the glitter shadow with this! Not pictured is my Juicy Couture see-through clutch and my Quay sunglasses to complete the look.

Friday Faves

It’s that time again for a short round-up of my favorite things of the moment! So let’s get started.

(Click on the picture for a direct link to the website)

Show

I have been addicted to watching ‘The Act’ on Hulu! It’s based on the true story of the seemingly sickly Gypsy Rose Blanchard and her mother Dee Dee Blanchard. The story turns when Dee Dee ends up murdered and Gypsy Rose ends up missing. It is a must-see because there are so many unexpected discoveries and since it is true I recommend watching the full documentary on Youtube after! Super interesting and such a truly insane situation!

Skin Care

If you follow me on Instagram you know I was gifted with some cleansers, lotions, and creams by SebaMed! I have been using them daily and I am really enjoying the moisturizing face cream. I use it pretty much daily after I get out of the shower to seal in the moisture. Also, did I mention it is only $15?!

Shoe Trend

I am obsessed with clear, nude heels! I really want a pair because I can see myself wearing these for years! Have you ever felt like you have the perfect outfit but you don’t know what shoes to wear because you don’t want to ruin the whole outfit? These will do the trick. Plus I am all for simplicity and these could not be more simple!

Juicing

So let me start this one by saying I have not tried juicing for very long or extensively. I usually will do a day at most if I am trying a cleanse, but I love having a juice at least once a week to keep up with my veggie intake and because of the many benefits. I have tried so many different brands and the ones I recommend are sold at Whole Foods and Pressed Juicery! Those are the best tasting in my opinion and make it easy to use as a meal replacement or supplement.

I usually opt for a juice filled with various greens. I always follow it up with some cold water to speed up my metabolism and I really like it infused with lots of lemons! I would recommend every at least try a local juicery near them for the flavor at the very least!

Brand : Meshki

Meshki has quickly grown to a more well-known brand especially because of Instagram and I wanted to share a few of my favorite pieces. Also, there are a few similar versions of their pieces sold at Forever 21 if you love the look but not the price. However, I definitely recommend checking it out because the quality is really worth it for sure!

Website

If you keep up with my Facebook Page for the blog, you know that I am always advocating for The Newsette! It is a daily newsletter filled with short, informative articles on pop and fashion news, health sections, inspiration, and shopping columns! Femme Luxe Review

One of my favorite part about being a blogger is working with brands! I never just take any brand collabs. I always look into the products, see if it is something I would actually wear and if my followers would like to see it or purchase it! I got the chance to review some clothing from Femme Luxe and so I wanted to share what I thought about the pieces as well as how they feel and price ranges!

Let’s start with this Shirt Dress! Keep in mind I am a 5’0 103 pound girl who likes to wear oversized tees. So naturally, I ordered a medium. While it looks really good and worked well, I really should have gone with a small because it was already oversized. That was just a mess up on my part. Femme Luxe knows exactly how their customers want their pieces! Rather than the size, I loved the shirt dress and how comfy and easy it was to just throw on and leave the house. I paired it with these purple shoes to bring out the blue in the shirt. Also how cool is the graphic?

My second look was this ribbed loungewear set. I have seriously been wanting one of these sets because they are on trend and so comfy! This is so something you can wear at home and out for the day and look so cool without even trying. Of course, I had to be basic and pair it with my oversized sneakers. But let me tell you again Femme Luxe knows what their customers like because this set is not tight, but fits well in all the right places! Also, the high neckline is perfect for cool summer nights. Whether I am in LA or Texas, the weather is never that cold, so I was really excited when I realized how thin this material was! Such a cool set you’ll definitely be seeing on my stories.

This all-black look was so HOT HOT HOT! I requested the Corset top and the Vinyl Trousers separately but when they came in I just had to pair them together!

So first the corset! Truly hugs you and holds you in. However, I would say to get your regular size because even though it is a bit snug that’s what a corset is for! There is some stretch in the back so you won’t totally suffocate and you will look super hot! The top had a bit of a pattern that resembled a snake type print but was very subtle and I loved it because had it not had that pattern I probably would not have worn it with the vinyl pants. There needed to be some kind of separation of the types of blacks I was wearing! I would definitely wear this with some jeans and heels for a chill night out.

On to the vinyl pants! I have seriously been wanting these for so long! I thought they would be perfect for nights out with heels or hanging out with friends and pairing them with my oversized “dad” sneakers. One thing I just have to mention though? They will make your legs super sweaty! I think this is a good/bad thing because 1. eww when you finally take them off (wipe them down well and air dry) but 2. if you are like me and weight conscious you are definitely losing water weight! But I have another pair of faux leather pants that make me sweat as well (again eww) so I think it’s just something you have to be aware of when it comes to the materials. Another good thing about these trousers is that they are shaped to give you shape! They are tighter around your calves which is perfect because you don’t want these in straight leg, and then cinches in at the waist to give you an hourglass look!

So for a quick overview on the Femme Luxe site, all of the pieces are so inexpensive so if you are looking for a trendy site I would look here! The pieces are so chic and super inexpensive. They have pretty good quality and are made for girls of different sizes! I would say there are slight differences in the pictures and the product like I did not see the patter of the corset in the close-up and the shirt dress looked more like a sweater to me in the picture. However, you get what you see and for being so inexpensive, it’s definitely a great place to shop!

Leather Jackets

I had been reading a lot more blogs about capsule closets and that made me think about writing a post on the importance of basics. When I buy pieces to show on the blog, most of the time the clothes are what I call statement pieces. I talk about this a lot but those are the ones with a wow effect. I think a leather jacket is a piece that is both a basic and a statement piece in one and that is really hard to find!

I have been wanting a leather jacket for a long time now. I used to use my roommates to take pictures in, but I, of course, needed my own. Leather jackets can range in price depending on the quality and authenticity of the leather. I added a few different types with various price points below in my round up.

A classic black is all I needed because it can dress up a simple jean and tee or make a feminine dress edgy. What I saying is not new, or innovative in any way, but its a good reminder and should be said every once in a while!

I feel that leather jackets are similar to jeans. You have to try on a few before you find your go-tos! I am the kind of girl that likes basics. I do not like any extra buckles or embellishments, and I am even skeptical about the size of the flaps. But I really liked this one and it was sooo inexpensive! I honestly bought this one because I needed a leather jacket asap and it was so cheap. I bought it from the Charlotte Russe closing sale and it was only $25! I will eventually buy another black leather jacket of better quality because I think this is one of those pieces that you have to spend more on because they last a lifetime.

Let’s talk about this shoot super quickly. I loved this idea of shooting with just the jacket and a simple body chain. I was however super skeptical (and I still am) about posting this on my blog and Instagram and all other social media sites because it does bare a lot of skin. However, I think it’s no worse than what I have shot before so I’m just going to go with it and hope for the best!

SXSW Round Up

I lived so close to Austin for the majority of my life and I had not experienced SXSW like I did this year! I really took advantage of the pop-ups and panels and I wanted to share a few of the to-dos! I was invited to experience the Innovation Mansion which was super cool! Not only were there panels but Michael Stars pop up with their spring line, Charlotte Tilbury makeup touch-ups, and lots of creative innovations throughout the mansion. I added a ton of content to my Instagram story as always but even that was not enough! So instead of making a SXSW Instagram highlight, I summed it up in a quick post!

Innovative makeup apps like YouCamMakeup filled the mansion! There was also a vending machine where you put in your email and you receive a random free gift! I got some earrings from Kendra Scott!

These were taken after my Charlotte Tilbury makeup was done! The picture does not do it justice! It looked beyond amazing! I also got some free products to try out.

I had to snap a quick selfie at the Micheal Stars pop-up

I also attended Create and Cultivate’s event which was so amazing as well! Both events were filled with panels and freebies of amazing brands!

There was a great schedule of panels and the panelist line up was amazing. I even got to see Tan France from Queer Eye speak about the upcoming season! You can hear the live podcast taping on the Work Party Podcast.

There were so many sponsors as well from Batiste to Core water, Roxy and Paige. I even got my hair done while waiting for panels. It was seriously so much fun! Also getting to meet Dani Austin was a great highlight of the day!

Create and Cultivate always showcases the best of entrepreneurial ideas and advice always so going to that event was a must! The line to get in was long, and rightly so as this was one of the most beneficial events for someone like me. And let me tell you there are lots of people like me!
