Halloween Post + Outfit Deets

Happy Halloween! I am actually not big into Halloween so I would ordinarily do a blog post for Halloween but I just wasn’t feeling it this year and I did not have time either! So instead I thought I could do a regular blog post and some spooky links from around the web! Read on for some outfit details and Halloween fun!

First with the outfit! I usually get my inspiration and then throw something together but this outfit I was not planning to shoot. I just went with it and this jacket has just always been one of my favorites!

I got the jacket from an Alice + Olivia Sample sale a few months ago and I have been anxiously awaiting fall ever since! It is a great color and such a cool statement piece. I thought I would keep it simple with all white underneath but this top is a bit risque, but I love how it all came together!

Healthy Habits

I recently saw this post on another blog and I think that I have touched on this topic before. I wanted to reintroduce it to the blog and give some of the pointers that I have come to learn about myself. I don’t want to include things like drinking your water and getting enough sleep because those are a given! Check out a few of the things I do often that make me feel healthy and happy overall.

Balanced Diet : When I say this I mean make sure there is a balance with your sweets and healthy foods. You have to eat both in good proportions for your body type to be happy and feel healthy. Too much or two little of either is not good!

Moisturize your skin : If you want to stay looking younger and have a healthy glow then throw on creams and serums! Extra points to you for adding in sunscreen!

Drinks your greens : I like to do fruit and veggie smoothies in the morning to make sure I feel full and start off my day right! Its an easy way to get in my intake of healthy foods.

Cut out toxic people : Know your limits with people and when people no longer benefit you and have a good impact in your life, move on and wish them the best no matter what position they hold in your life.

Say your prayers : This one is the most powerful and most needed. Being a good person is just not enough sometimes, you need to reconnect and remember that you have the best love and support that there ever is and that’s something that

Splurge on yourself : Buy yourself something nice, or do your nails or get your hair blown out. Little things like this make you feel good and everyone needs these every once in a while!

Bond : Whether it be with an animal or with a family member or even a new friend, making time to hang out and get close to someone is always good for both of you!

I was inspired by the Lady Gaga album cover “Joanne” for this one! I was told by two different people that I resemble Lady Gaga and I do not really think so! Maybe just like a certain angle?

Have you ever been told you look like a celebrity?

Dressing up a casual look

Before I get into the post, I have been posting what I call second-hand celebrity news/gossip on my stories on Instagram. They have actually been doing pretty well and I wanted to see if that might be something that I can expand to my blog. Being here in Hollywood is, of course, a big thing! I definitely get my sources from other celebrity accounts hence why I call it second hand!

Is celebrity gossip/news something that you would like to read?

Okay, now on to the post! I actually stole this outfit idea from a friend on Instagram! I loved the outfit so I thought I’d dress it up a bit. Change up the shoes and add some sweatpants and you’re comfy as can be! What really changed it was the shoes!

That’s the whole point of the post, just one aspect of an outfit can be the selling point that takes you from comfy to HOT.

What seems like a lack of pants (I am definitely wearing shorts) and a sock bootie elongated my legs and because of the heel and angle, it makes me look a bit taller!

We had a rule in my sorority when we wore letters, that our of your hair, makeup and clothes, two of the three must be done. That rule applies with life! If you have two of the three, you can pretty much get away with murder…or at least get away looking cute during your weekend plans.

The cold weather is definitely creeping upon us and I am going to be in long cardigans, flannels and oversized teeshirts for a while! To dress it up add a statement necklace, some really cool shoes, a bright lip, or an oversized bag. I always say that making a focal point in your outfit really changes it. I am all for minimalism and neutrals, so when I do want to play up the look, I make one thing stand out so it is not overbearing!

Let me know what you would like to see on the blog and what kind of topics you would like to see! I really just have fun putting together outfits so I love the feedback!

Puffy Sleeves

I am all for a statement piece! The puffy sleeve trend definitely is one that makes a statement. I love the sleeves and the color together is such a great combo. I rounded up a few more pieces that have puffy sleeves that you may like as well!

What’s your favorite trend of the moment?

This is definitely a classier weekend look! I actually wore this one to the Melrose Trading Post, and while that isn’t exactly where I pictured wearing it, I just felt like it. Do you ever feel like that? Wearing something new even though it might be a little much for the occasion?

Of course, I also had to pair it with my new headband! I used to ALWAYS wear headbands when I was younger so this was a throwback for me! I love how cute and creative the headbands are now! I definitely want more, especially ones with pearls!

This is obviously one of those tops that you have to wear a cute bandeau (or bodysuit in my case) underneath. I love the sweet details and of course, I am a sucker for white under pink! I love a cute detail and when I saw this lace background I knew it would go perfectly!

Where I shop Workout Wear

I am all for the athleisure trend! There is something comforting about being able to just wear some sweats and a tee or leggings around running errands. I have a few favorite places that I really do enjoy getting my workout clothes from. While I used to just wear a big shirt and shorts, wearing workout clothes makes it more fun to actually go to the gym and also the cuter the pieces, the better the workout! (Okay that one may not be true but it sounds nice)

My Favorite Places to show athleisure:

Workout wear is designed to be breathable and stretchy. Great for long walks around the block or long weekends on the couch! I am usually that person that goes for black, white, or pink active wear so I can wear it on my plane rides. Every time I think of getting something I think if I would wear it on a trip so that I can get the most use out of it!

Where do you shop for workout wear?

If I am being honest, I didn’t really see too much of a point in wearing quality activewear until recently. If you are doing a workout class the fabric is better and you do not have to tug and pull at your clothes. I recently purchased my first pair of gym shark leggings and they have such a flattering fit that it keeps you going because when I look in the mirror I like what I see! It’s all a psychological thing!

Lulu’s Pop-up + Going out alone

I was so lucky to have been invited to the Lulu’s pop-up before it opened to view the collections! I had so much fun and saw so many LA bloggers that I follow on Instagram. What I loved most was that Lulu’s really did bring together the LA influencer community because I saw girls that had millions of followers with girls that had even less than I do.

It was a fun night overall, and we were all able to pick one free item, share a drink and light bites, and mingle. I really enjoyed seeing all of my friends and I wish more events were inclusive like this one.

One thing I definitely wanted to touch on as proposed by my friend Lola, was going to events alone. I think I did touch on this one a bit in a previous post, but really having the courage to go to these things alone is a big thing and I didn’t realize that. I guess it isn’t a big deal to me because I am basically alone out here in LA. I don’t have people to hold my hand and all of my friends I made out here.

My friend Lola who inspired the post!

Now I do want to say I did not just come out here to LA alone. I sublet with one of my sorority sisters so it was both of us and I got closer to the girls that we lived with. My sorority sister had to go back to Texas for school and my sublet ended so I did end up being pretty alone, but it was a transition still.

I think it is something that everyone should do though. Go have dinner out alone and go to the movies alone. It really is empowering when you get comfortable. I was told last night that I was BRAVE for going to the event alone. I thought to myself, actually, I just did not want to be stuck with just one person the whole night!

Moral of the story, go to things alone. Meet people. Step out of your comfort zone. Do the things that a basic things that grow you as a person. Thank me later! *winky face*

If you’re in the LA area from September 28th – October 6th go check out the pop-up on Melrose Avenue!

From Work to Weekend

Every time I’ve been shopping recently I have been wanting to buy pieces that answer yes to three questions; Can I wear this to work? Can I wear this for a blog post? Will I wear it after I have posted it on the blog? If it hits at least two of those questions then I am happy, and if it only hits one, I really have to think about it. All three and it’s a winner! That’s how I am with this outfit!

I know I can pair a tee with just about anything! Layer it under a blazer and its work-ready, here it is in the blog post, and its a great weekend tee for hopping around the Rosebowl flea market! Same goes for this skirt. You cannot go wrong with a simple satin piece. This color is a perfect transition piece for fall/winter.

What are the questions you ask yourself before buying a new outfit?

These two pieces are actually from Showpo. I have always loved shopping here for years, and now that I have the need for a more work/casual attire, I still am able to shop here especially with the trendy blazers and basics they have!

Anyone else a sucker for the trendy pieces like this? Trendy is always a hit or miss for me, and I am all about the suit trend. This look, however, is more up my alley for work. Easy, comfy, and I don’t feel like I am trying to hard with a blazer. Luckily I work in a PR showroom so I am able to be more lenient on what I wear. If not I would definitely throw on a jacket and some pointy kitten heels to make this more business casual.
