I have gotten into the habit of writing down a lot of significant things in my life that have happened while I have been in California. I hope to one day create a book that is comical, risky and fashion-forward. One of the tidbits that I wanted to include, and I thought I would share on the blog is about how I am clearly not from California.
I for one am so glad I am not from here. While the people here can be great, many of them are just kind of..blah. I love Texas and I will be going back eventually! I love that I am so loud and outspoken and I’d rather pop a joke that may not be appropriate at the time than not. I am the kind of person that is very transparent, you know exactly how I feel about you.
I get told that I should cover up a bit more sometimes, but I am only this young (and probably this size) once in my life, so I don’t mind. I am going to do the things that I think are fun and take a risk and make that wrong decision because I know that even though it may not be right, it’s not going to change my life as I know it.
I found this cute little bar place in North Hollywood that my coworker invited me to and let me tell you it was a piece of Texas in California. There was country music on and endless chips and guac. Also, if you like margaritas they had some as big as your head! (Well my head probably because I have a small head.) It made me miss home and being with my friends and I struggle sometimes being away, and I never know what is next but I just keep going and see what gets thrown my way.
I have gotten so many comments from people who come into work noticing that I say “y’all” and honestly I never even notice because its so normal for me! When you are around people that share a commonality, you tend to adopt their way of doing things. One thing that I will not be doing though, is removing the word y’all from my vocabulary.

If you’re like me, you are always looking for something new to watch. I have the PERFECT recommendation for you, but I’m sure you’ve already seen it. Good Girls is one of NBC’s best shows of the moment. (And if you’re like me who likes a refresh of season’s past it also is on Netflix!)
With so many twists and turns I never know what is going to happen next. The show is all about three regular mothers who’s plan to rob a grocery store takes them down a crime filled path. They get involved in money laundering, pill exchanges, murders and more! Each time they narrowly escape the FBI and have time to make dinner for their families.
When we last saw beth, she had just shot Rio as he was beating up Agent Turner. Now he’s out of the pictures and the girls are ready to build an empire all their own. Honestly, things aren’t always what they seem and for some reason, I predict that Rio might just lay low for a bit then come back because Agent Turner said that he had a chance if he called the ambulance right away… but with this show WHO KNOWS!
If you like a comedy-infused drama then this is a great watch. It’s more of a mix between ‘Thelma and Louise’ and ‘Breaking Bad’.
So who’s my favorite character? It’ll have to be Rio! He’s more of a bad-boy type and someone you just don’t want to mess with but you can’t help but be interested in! Yeah, he is definitely the “wrong crowd” but he is straight up, gets things done, and doesn’t lie about being one of the good guys!
Here’s a quick peek on his character from NBC : https://www.facebook.com/286094561830947/posts/1022301858210210

I’ve been seeing a lot of New Year posts and posts about the previous decade. It got me thinking about what I have done in the past year/decade. I am working on comparing myself to others and that is basically what this post is about. Everyone has their own timeline. While I am busy comparing myself to those that have done more, there are people wishing that they were in my spot. That is so important to remember.
I remember thinking that you’re supposed to go to school, graduate college, get married, buy a house and then have kids. While I mean that could still happen for me in that order, I know a lot of people that are already married, already have kids and do not own a house. So who is to say what is right and what is wrong? Who is to say you’re not supposed to end up with someone or that’s not how it’s supposed to happen? There is no instruction manual and while that works for most people that does not mean that is how it has to go.
Your timeline is about whatever you want it to be. And even then sometimes you cannot control that. You meet who you should when you should. You move when you want to. You adopt a dog when your lonely, or a baby when you’re ready. At the end of the day, it’s about a mix of fate and faith.

I started reading three articles a day over the holiday break. Most days I read only 1 or 2 but I always shot to read at least three. I never really use my twitter but I decided to start using it for finding articles to check out regarding fashion, celebrities, beauty, and trends.
Social media is always a tricky one as there are so many things it can be used for; showing off, investigating, news, etc. I choose to use each platform differently, and until now, I never really had a purpose for going on twitter every day. I use the discover page to learn about news in general as well as find out more about big breaking stories in the media. I always scroll all the way down to fashion and beauty and the bigger publications have their most recent stories posted.
- Influencers over the age of 60
- Fashion Trends Analytics of 2019
- Florence Pugh on her age gap relationship
- Latinx-owned beauty brands as mentioned by Nylon
- Have you heard of Kevyn Aucoin’s new Glass Glow Face product? You should!
- Greta Thunberg on Climate change as told by British Vogue
Got a favorite publication? What is it?
So I know that I haven’t really expressed what I do at work so I thought I would write a post as not even my parents really understand! I have had a few other jobs leading up to this one and this is the one that I have been most happiest with and it is really expanding my career.
I work in a showroom in Los Angeles. I had no idea what a showroom was until I got here but now I think this is what I had been looking for! So there are various kinds of showrooms, mine looks after fashion brands and gets them editorial and celebrity based placement. We loan our independent brands from around the world for commissioned shoot which end up in fashion publications or we loan garments for celebrities to wear to events.
Some showrooms have super well known brands such as PLT, BNKR, Guess, Stewart Weitzman and more!
When a stylist comes in, we assist them in finding garments that match their brief or mood board as well as grow personal relationships with them so we may continue to assist in their upcoming projects. I have seen the garments go from the showroom to those glossy covers that everyone flips through and have seen celebs strutting down the carpet with our pieces.
Every press shot we receive is a win for not only the designer, but the stylist and our agency as well.
I spend my days keeping up with samples, looking for press, assisting stylists in appointments and pitching the brands I look after. The showroom I work in is a boutique showroom which is smaller and has independent brands mostly from London.
I love where I work and who I work with and I have learned so much. I really enjoy learning more about the industry as a whole and I am excited to see where I go from here!

Every once in awhile I like to share my Friday Faves but I thought I would mix it up a bit and share some interesting links that I found on the internet!
The internet is a HUGE place! I don’t really think we get that (well at least I don’t) since I don’t know anyone that ever goes to the second page when you search something on Google! What are your favorite things to search for or look at on the Internet? I definitely go for funny videos, (follow me at briana.nicole03 on tik tok) recipes, how-tos and news!
Top : Lulu’s // Jeans : Lulu’s (Levis) // Bag : TopShop
I was so lucky to have been invited to the Lulu’s pop-up before it opened to view the collections! I had so much fun and saw so many LA bloggers that I follow on Instagram. What I loved most was that Lulu’s really did bring together the LA influencer community because I saw girls that had millions of followers with girls that had even less than I do.
It was a fun night overall, and we were all able to pick one free item, share a drink and light bites, and mingle. I really enjoyed seeing all of my friends and I wish more events were inclusive like this one.
One thing I definitely wanted to touch on as proposed by my friend Lola, was going to events alone. I think I did touch on this one a bit in a previous post, but really having the courage to go to these things alone is a big thing and I didn’t realize that. I guess it isn’t a big deal to me because I am basically alone out here in LA. I don’t have people to hold my hand and all of my friends I made out here.
My friend Lola who inspired the post!
Now I do want to say I did not just come out here to LA alone. I sublet with one of my sorority sisters so it was both of us and I got closer to the girls that we lived with. My sorority sister had to go back to Texas for school and my sublet ended so I did end up being pretty alone, but it was a transition still.
I think it is something that everyone should do though. Go have dinner out alone and go to the movies alone. It really is empowering when you get comfortable. I was told last night that I was BRAVE for going to the event alone. I thought to myself, actually, I just did not want to be stuck with just one person the whole night!
Moral of the story, go to things alone. Meet people. Step out of your comfort zone. Do the things that a basic things that grow you as a person. Thank me later! *winky face*
If you’re in the LA area from September 28th – October 6th go check out the pop-up on Melrose Avenue!
