Friday Faves

I pulled a few of my favorites this week from my Wish List Tabs above. This is where you can find my recent “wants” and “must-buys” before I even buy them and shoot them for the blog! Leave a comment

Song : Late Night by Deputy

I may be a little biased because I know the singer very well, but I genuinely like this sound because it’s something I would listen to on my own! Also, you gotta support local artists, they tend to be the best when you find a really good one!

Podcast : Get Real with Caroline Hobby

I just started listening to this podcast and I started off with her interview with Maddie and Tae, the country singers, and I really loved it! She is a former country singer in Nashville Tennessee and I definitely recommend checking this out if you are all for girl bosses and country music!

Beauty Product : Jade Roller

I recently wrote a blog posts about this, and I love it so much I had to mention it again. It’s a perfect addition to your morning routine to reduce inflammation and decrease drainage build up in your facial region (eww). Just pop it in the fridge and add a light serum and you’re halfway to a facial! Mine is linked and it is 100% all natural jade!

Wish List : Show Me Your Mumu Concho Belt

This belt has actually been on my wish lists for a while and I just posted about it on my Instagram stories recently as a poll if I should buy it or not. I went to check out the Show Me Your Mumu boutique in Venice beach and I didn’t see it in store, still wanting this cute belt!

Link : The Sakura Life Founders on why you should adopt a plant based diet

While I am honestly not going to go on an all plant based diet anytime soon, it was a good read for clean eating tips! I honestly thing The Newsette has amazing articles for girls like me who are into wellness, beauty, fashion, and daily corporate updates on businesses I want to know about. They keep me updated with the beauty industry and pop culture! Sign up for a super short and super worth it daily newsletter HERE.

Blogger Advice : Style Collective

When I first started my blog I did not take it seriously… but then when I really decided to do it full force about a year ago I did not know where to start. I could not just jump into it but I had a lot to learn. I started off with blog conferences which helped me dip my toe into the blogging world. One huge resource I still use today is Style Collective! I started with style collective about a year and a half ago I would say. Not only do they have resources for girls like me to learn the ins-and-outs of the blogging world, but they have a community of girls with similar passions, all willing to help each other grow, and that’s what has made me stick around.

The CEO Annie Spano not only facilitates the conversations in the FB page, but she is very hands on. She always answers questions any of the girls have, does FB live videos where she answers questions we have and also conducts a podcast with other passionate females making it in the industry. I really enjoyed being a member and the resources are exactly what bloggers need at any level of the profession.

I have had girls come up to me or message me about creating a blog and if they are serious about it I really lead them to the right resources and Style Collective covers all of the bases. As I continue to grow my blog, the resources and community also evolve so that I never outgrow Style Collective, but it keeps up with the trends and meet-ups of the blogging community.

I plan on attending the next SC conference and I hope to one day meet Annie Spano! I get on the FB page daily and I get to interact with other bloggers at many different levels which helps me grow both my blog and me personally. One of my favorite parts of Style Collective is Link Love which is where we can all share our latest blog posts and comment on each other’s newest projects. We also interact with each other on Instagram and other social media sites to positively support each other since we all have a similar goal and understand the hustle.

I remember the first time I was featured on a SC email! I was so excited to be noticed by such an established platform. I knew at that point they really cared about the members and what they get out of the service. From setting up meet-ups with other members to pitching to brands, I am proud to be a #SCsister.

I would recommend any blogger/influencer/entrepreneur to join style collective! It is so easy and so worth it! The team really goes out of their way to make sure we have all that we need to succeed! They are responsive and helpful, and it is only $10 a month to join. Also, there is not a waitlist like other platforms! They are inclusive of girls at all levels! For the amount of support, resources and community you gain, it is a huge steal!

Morning Jade Roller Routine

Let me start off by saying I have been way more into skincare than usual recently! From the products I use to how I use them, its all essential. I put on lotion everyday after I shower and I have even been applying sunscreen which I did not do before!

One essential beauty product is my Jade Roller. I have been wanting one of these for a while now since I definitely have puffiness in the morning. This is caused by lymphatic drainage and when you roll out the drainage is released from your facial area. There also are other benefits like increasing circulation and reduced dark under eyes.

So after a night out I will stick my roller in the fridge or for a few minutes in the freezer if I forget. Then I will apply my daily moisturizer with SPF and apply a light layer on my face, you can also use a serum. Then I use the roller and slowly roll up and out.  It should feel like a massage!

I try to do this daily if not at least three times a week. It has been a new part of my beauty routine and as someone who is used to having a puffy face in the morning it really makes a difference. The exact roller I use is this 100% natural Jade stone roller from Purbert.com and I bought it through Amazon. I use the larger roller for my cheek and forehead area and the smaller roller for around my eyes. You can also use the smaller part for your face and the larger parts for your body! The one I use also comes with a one year 100% satisfaction guarantee.

Picnic and Podcasts in the Park

Every Thursday I have been going to The Grove for ‘Picnic and Podcasts in the Park’. It was a weekly event for the month which featured live podcasts from Dear Media. The four events featured The Skinny Confidential Him & Her, As Seen Online with Jilly Hendrix, That’s so Retrograde and Work Party.

I had really only heard of two of the four but I enjoyed it so I RSVP’d to go after work every week. I honestly love listening to podcasts so this was right up my alley! If you know anything about Dear Media you know it is run by Michael Bosstick who is the Him in The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast. It was so exciting getting to meet them both after their live recording and I knew the rest of the podcasts would be great because they are both so creative and business savvy.

There was complimentary drinks, candy, macaroons and sometimes goodie bags! It was just a fun experience and I wanted to write about it because it was one of the fun things I got to do while in LA that not everyone gets to attend. I cannot wait to listen to more episodes and see how the company grows.

How to be more Sociable + Beachwear

We recently took a personality test in one of my summer classes and one of my top traits was the ability to win others over. I thought this was super interesting and never really thought about it before. I do love talking to new people, especially strangers every once in a while, and I have no problem making conversation. I am a naturally loud person and I wanted to share a few of the things I do that would help others who are either shy or in a new situation to be more open and talkative.

Compliment + Introduction : When I see someone I would be interested in talking to I think of why I want to talk to them and give them a compliment. Then after they say thank you I always introduce myself, usually conversations go on from there.

Similar Interests : When I am doing something that I enjoy, like a workout class, I usually will want to make friends that enjoy it too. I always will talk about how the teacher is doing or talk about similar classes I’ve taken.

Ask important questions : Asking the person around you a question about what you’re doing sparks conversations as well. Even if they do not know the answer, you can find out together.

Fake it till you Make it : Act like you are already sociable, take on a leader role and pull yourself out of your comfort zone. That’s the best way to do it is to put yourself out there!

Shooting this I was not exactly ready for a beach post to be honest! But then I borrowed my friend and fellow blogger @vickystyles (on instagram) hat and beach bag and I was set. It’s amazing what the right accessories can do! I always struggle to find the perfect hat, one because of the style and two because my head is small! But I loved this one and will definitely be looking into adding more hats to my closet!

How to Care for your Hair

Everyone knows the basics, cut an inch or two off the tips of your hair every few months, reduce heat on your hair and sleep on silk pillowcases. Well if you didn’t know those, there are a few more tips! Here are a few of the tips I found out work well for me and my hair type! I have a straight/wavy type of hair and it’s very thin. So what works for me may not always work for you but I tried to keep the tips as general as possible!

  1. Weekly Hair Mask : I usually do a quick hair mask when I shave so I can be doing something while I’m waiting for the mask to set in. That or for some serious repair an overnight hydrating hair mask will do the trick, just sleep with a shower cap on!
  2. Don’t wash everyday : Okay this one may be basic but I cannot stress the importance and the difference I have seen in my hair! I for sure go AT LEAST two days without washing it and now I am shooting for three. It takes training, patience and lots of dry shampoo, but it really does make a difference!
  3. Hold off on the Product :  I try not to use product the day I wash my hair to let the natural oils set in. I also try super hard to not straighten, curl or blow dry it after a wash just for a “reset” for my hair and give it some rest.
  4. Use Product : On the second day I always use a product that my specific hair needs. I usually use a hydrating product for the ends like a leave in conditioner and maybe a repair serum on the ends. If your hair is curly use something specific to your hair type and what you need.
  5. Use Protection : I never blow dry my hair without blow dry serum. It makes my hair silky smooth and I use it on “cool”. Also you should ALWAYS use heat protectant, I sometimes even do it when I know I’ll be out in the sun for a long time but that’s me being over protective now.
  6. Cut between cuts : My aunt recently taught me this but if your section off your hair and twist it then cut the ends that stick out because those tend to be the split ends.

I found a really great Keratin hair treatment by a hair care company called Finesse. I’ve been trying the MAX deep conditioning treatment and it has really changed the softness of my locks. Not only is it easy to use and came with this perfect comb, it’s easy to purchase as well. Check out Target.com , HEB, Meijer, Winn Dixie and Woodsman Market (depending on where you live) to try some for yourself!

I like to tease my hair a lot so this treatment makes my hair silky and easy to undo the knots I create.

Post Gym Products

Hey loves! I have been going to the gym at least four times a week recently. So I got the idea to add a post about some of the products I use after a good workout sesh as well as a few workout wear pieces I have been wanting! Let me know in the comments what your favorite machine is at the gym, I always love learning more and changing up my routine!

Water Bottle : First off I had to add my water bottle! Hydration is a must for skin, hair and over all health so it starts from within! How cute is this water bottle?! I’ll take two!

Dry Shampoo : After a good fitness class my hair tends to be a bit oily. Everyone’s quick fix is a dry shampoo. So I love this one because it does not leave any white residue on my hair since my hair is brown. Do you know of a more natural dry shampoo? I’d love to try!

Face Wipes : While I hate to wear makeup to the gym, sometimes I like a light coverage like a CC Cream. So regardless of if I have a CC cream on or not I always wash the sweat off my face to clear my pores. I use Olay 5-in-1 daily facial wipes since it is an easy product to clean, exfoliate, hydrate, tone and remove make up all in one!

Deodorant : Between deodorant and body spray I can never get enough until I shower. If I don’t sweat I don’t feel very productive. I prefer an all natural deodorant for before AND after a gym session because I get super self conscious about how I smell. I definitely recommend this Kopari Coconut Deodorant because of the brand and the smell!

Body Cleansing Wipes : Like I said, I like to sweat when I workout. So after if I am having lunch out I like to feel cleaner with these towelettes from Bath and Body. How convenient, right?!
