Valentine’s day Gift Guide + Outfit Details

Valentine’s day is one of my favorite holidays! It always has been ever since I was younger and would get to pick out Valentine’s cards to give out to the class! I even would buy Valentine’s for my friends in high school. I love the pinks, reds, and purples. Hearts and the odds and ends that come with the holiday are always so cute! I also really liked shooting this outfit! Something different for me as I am trying to be more trendy with this, but I love trying new looks and genres of fashion. I also included some sweet gifts for the special girls in your life! These are sweet little reminders to share that will last a bit longer than a heart balloon and candy!

Dressing Room Diaries : Free People

I have always loved Free People and since I have a newfound love for boho, I had to do a try-on at the store! A few of these pieces may not be as accessible since I found some on the sales racks. But here is a short haul with a few of my newest favorites at the store right now!

Let me know if you think I should do more of these dressing room try-ons/hauls. I also did another try-on at the LA thrift store Wasteland. I actually really like doing them because I get to show off new pieces that I enjoyed but that did not exactly make it to the blog.. and a few that did!

Is there a store that you would like to see me to go check out around the LA area?

Let’s start off with this crop top! So comfy and I really like wearing small tops because I am young and I still can! It’s like a mini skirt.. You won’t always be able to wear them so do it while you can! I would definitely wear this at home or a quick trip just hanging out.

These jeans are soooo comfy! I actually will probably be buying these eventually because they are so soft and allow you to move! Plus I really like the button up details. My only thing was I don’t like that much distressing. But these were a size 24 and they still were a comfy fit!

This furry black crop top was so incredibly soft! It was very small and I thought it was so cute! I would wear it for a night out with some black jeans or a high waisted skirt! This was the last one on the sale rack so I’m linking a similar top.

This top was a huge trend a few seasons ago. I love the lace detailing and it is so easy to throw on and wear by itself or under another piece. Also, it came in a few different colors.

I tried on this brami because it looked so soft. Soft and comfy seem to be the words I keep using but it really is true! All of the pieces are so easy to wear! Obviously, I would not just wear this top out but it is a great piece for at home or under a top.

This jacket has been on my wishlist for a while now! I just think it looks so cool and can spruce up a plan jean and tee look and take it to the next level! Now that it is on sale it is a must to get!

I saw this set on the sale rack and I had to try it! It gave me Coachella vibes from two years ago. Such a fun look and the skirt is so fun and fits so well. I usually do not like this scrunchy material for some reason.. looks kind of *cough cough* cheap to me, but you cannot really see it because of the bold print so I am all for it!

California Update + Outfit Details

I have come to realize that not many people know what I am doing up here in California since I moved back after the holidays. Everything is kinda rocky but that is due to me figuring out exactly what I want to do with my life. I know I want to try to pursue PR since that is what I majored in and I want to stretch out my time here in Los Angeles, but I also am not sure if I want to stay here for a long time. I think it really depends on if I find a job I really enjoy. I know work is work, but I do not see the point of working somewhere I do not love and being away from my friends and family for no reason. Yes, the opportunities are a bit better here in Los Angeles blog-wise, but I’m not sure if the pros outweigh the cons quite yet.

What I do know for sure is I will be staying here until the end of March. I have two internships right now that I really wanted because they are giving me experience in positions I have never had before and I am excited for the growth in their fields. The first one is at a PR showroom which is a totally different type of PR than what I have been doing at previous internships! I really like working with fashion and name brands so I definitely wanted hands-on experience with this. Also, I feel like I could not apply for a job at a PR showroom without experience and now I have that!

The second internship is with a high-end magazine! I was not too sure about this position at first but the more I heard about it the more interested I became. It was described to me as “reverse PR” where the agencies come to you and you reach out to them for their clients to be featured. Not only am I doing this but I also get to experience putting together the magazine and all of the segments that go with it! Such a cool experience to have! More updates soon to come on both internships!

Okay on to the look! I have had this skirt now for a few months and have yet to style it! I finally figured I would keep it simple and a bit chic. I love playing around with my style and wearing pieces that are different and bold. This lace up skirt has the best details that are simple but stand out. Just my style! This is perfect for going out and wearing with a black bodysuit!

Favorite Little Details

I’m the kind of girl that when I like something I use it over and over again. When I really like a song I play it constantly until I am absolutely sick and tired of it! The same can be said about my jewelry. I wear the same three rings on my fingers, a dainty gold choker and swap between three pairs of earrings. Of course, if my outfit calls for some different jewelry I swear it, but then I put my original pieces right back on! Well, I am taking a close up on a few of my favorite (new) details and sharing why I wear them so much and where you can get them for yourself!

First up are my rings. Now let me start off by saying I have the SMALLEST fingers! Literally, they are so skinny and dainty everyone always comments on them. “You have baby hands.” “I could break your fingers if I wanted to.” I get it. Anyway, so my go-to are midi rings. My thumb ring is actually a Kendra Scott midi ring that I have as a set. My cross ring I believe I received from my grandma for my first communion. (That was when I was in second-grade y’all.) And my last “ring” is actually an ear cuff from Mejuri that I got from a bumble event. Needless to say, I wear these three rings at all times except when I am washing my hair.. a sad lesson learned the hard way.

Two new favorites are these sunglasses and watch from MVMT! I was gifted them to promote on Instagram and I just love the rose gold I wanted to add them to this post! I really am not a fan of watches so I almost turned this down, but I checked out the ones they had anyway and I really liked the unique band of this one!

Lastly is this new ear thread from AUrate. On New Year’s Eve, my friend and I had a whole discussion on how to put in an ear thread! We had both never used one and a few days later AUrate reached out to me seeing if I would do a sponsored post and one of the items was a gold ear thread. Now if you haven’t guessed already I only wear gold and rose gold so I just had to say yes! I am still playing with how to wear it, but it was such a coincidence!

Coffee Talk : Spring Style

I always get excited for the upcoming season at the end of the current one. It’s a cycle being excited to wear different clothes and then getting bored of them and waiting to transition your style. Also, I hate that small window between trends that happens every once in a while. I was shopping for a new piece to shoot this past weekend and I SWEAR I went to at least 10 stores both online and in-store and I could find nothing that spoke to me! So I am thinking that 1. I could definitely be a trend follower (which I admit I am) and 2. I am not the kind of person that just seeks trends but I seek unique pieces. There have been several pieces that I really love and wanted to shoot but they were just too much! I do not want to spend $400-500 on a piece that I will wear a few times but I want it just to shoot. (Jeans and staple pieces are a different story and you have to splurge sometimes tbh) And besides that my readers do not seem to be huge spenders. I feel they are like me and sometimes you buy the piece because you fall in love with it! Buying a piece to shoot once is different than buying a piece I really like and will wear again.

So, here is my “hoping for the California sun to come back out and stay out” outfit preparing for Spring!

A few pieces I cannot wait to see this season :

Skirts : A no brainer but Midi, flowy, and bright I love them all! I want to not just wear the regular mini skirt but something with fun details that can be paired with a sweater or a tank.

Statement pieces : As I said in a previous post, I think bold pieces are going to be a trend and filter down from the designers like Stella McCartney and Vivienne Westwood. And trust me I am here for it! After that H&M x Moschino Collab I believe anything is possible!

Pastel Neutral pieces : I love a good pastel pink, light green and baby blue! I can already picture shots in fields with bright colors in my hair, in the air and black boots on my feet!

What is your favorite piece to wear during Spring? Got any Spring Style predictions? Share them with me in the comments!

Styling Tulle

Styling Tulle. So I talked about stepping out of my comfort zone style-wise in my past blog post. This outfit definitely qualifies. This definitely is not something that I would just wear anywhere and now that I think about it, I have a very hard time placing where exactly someone would wear this outfit…

Any suggestions?

I’ve had this skirt in my closet for a while now, I actually shot it two years back for Valentine’s day and I actually wore a similar colored top now that I think about it! Why I choose to wear tulle in the winter is beyond me. I was absolutely freezing for this shoot! There were multiple times I ran the short distance back to the car to warm up and try my best to keep my nose from getting red. I go full Rudolph in the winter.

Tulle is one of those fabrics you just know when you see it! It stands out and when you get a good amount it just automatically looks divine! I am coming to realize I am a sucker for most pieces in white. Definitely a must! Black would just be a little too harsh for this look in my opinion. I styled it with a sweater mostly because it was freezing and also who wants to see a shot of someone in a tank top during winter? But this sweater has a great asymmetric feel, perfectly falls off the shoulder, and the small flare to the sleeve just ties it all together. After all, the devil is in the details.

A few of my tips for wearing tulle?

  1. Keep the rest of the outfit simple : you want the tulle to be the statement piece, the piece a person’s eyes automatically go to when they first see your look
  2. Mix fabrics : you, of course, do not want your whole look to be tulle, layering with a structured top is probably your best bet for wearing out a tulle skirt somewhere nice.
  3. Stick to one color : it can already be hard to find matching pieces, so don’t make it harder and get tulle AND a print together. Your other outfit pieces can have print, of course, but solid colors are the way to go in my opinion!

Boho Vibes

What is your favorite kind of style? Chic? 90’s? Mine has been more boho recently! I’ve been getting more into more of a western-y, fun look more and more. I have been venturing out of my comfort zone and have been wearing pieces that I think are different and not something that you would just wear for a day at the mall. When I find a piece I really like I usually describe the piece as “fun”. This can be anywhere from a chic pointy-toed see-through heel to an embroidered Dior bag.

I’ve gotten a lot of my style inspiration from Instabloggers like Anna Grace Newell and Tezza. While I am still not over my girly chic style, I love being able to find new looks to pull off. Plus my dad called me a hippie a few months ago and I realized that since my family now things I just juice and wear bell bottoms I might as well embrace the boho/hippie vibes and go with it! Peaceeee Mannnn!

Every piece of this outfit is essential! Let’s break it down real quick.

This hat is the epicenter of this outfit! It matches perfectly with the light pink shoes and the sheer pink long sleeve. The yellow of the dress adds a pop of color and the jewels are so small and simple they add to the mix of texture with the tiny polka dots on the sheer top. This outfit is like a chocolate chip cookie, the dough and the chocolate are pretty good by themselves, but amazing when they are together!

I love mixing prints that just go! I am predicting that trendy, fun pieces are going to seep more into people’s everyday lives since I recently visited Rodeo Drive and so many of the stores had eclectic pieces! I honestly cannot wait to be walking down the street in this kind of outfit! I would love to do a blog post on the cool street style I see other people wear here in LA.

Would you like to see a post like that?

A lot of the time I actually just put outfits together in my head and hope for the best. Usually, they do not look ANYTHING like I imagine. But then again that is because not every sweater, jean or skirt have the same silhouette or hit at the correct length or have the same material thickness. (Ugh how I wish I could sew.)

This look I tried on for the first time New Year’s Eve. While I wanted to wear my revolve dress, I figured going out to bars in a college town was not the time to tempt fate with my nice dress and I felt like I would stick out like a sore thumb in something I was not totally 100% satisfied with. I ended up wearing this dress… which I wore on Christmas also so I am a major holiday outfit repeater! But when I tried it on with this sheer long sleeve underneath I was horrified! I had the wrong bra, my hair was up and was not getting the right vibes! BUT I ended up shooting with it after all mostly because of the hat and it worked out well! Some random drunk girl even said that she loved my dress and I looked like Pocahontas!!
