Business Casual

Hey Loves, so I got really inspired by a look I saw on Pinterest and I tried to recreate it with a few of the items I had in my closet. The clothes were a bit baggier on the model which of course gave it a different feel, but I still kind of like the way that this look came out. Overall the look was definitely comfortable and something different than what I usually wear. I really like the structure of the look and how it is a bit more put together than my usual outfits.

So the original picture was of a model wearing a forest green hugo boss tee with slightly baggy brown-paper-bag trousers and a nude pointy toe heel. Her green bag complimented her tee and I feel in love. It was chic and cool and laid back all in one.

I am really loving the idea of wearing more of a monochromatic look and choosing a color and just going with it. For example, wearing a plain green turtle neck and then pairing it with a darker green coat that is only a few shades different speaks to my soul. Okay, that was a bit much but you get the point. This outfit is definitely not an example of that but I thought it would be worth mentioning!

January Wrap-Up

Okay so this is a bit late but… I have really been wanting to start writing a memoir that I would pass down to my kids and their kids about my time here in California. A dream would be for it to turn into a book, but honestly, I don’t think it would be that exciting and I’m not a writer.

Regardless I wanted to start doing end of the month wrap-ups (if I remember) to note anything special that happened during the month, any big events, ideas or just what I thought as a whole! So here it goes…

January seemed pretty long! I worked my butt off at work for Awards season and I think I learned how much it pays off when you really put in the effort. I am glad I am at a stage in my life where I can be selfish with my time and with what I choose to do with it.

I started reading more fashion-focused articles which have really helped my writing and creativity.

I landed a few cool collaborations for the upcoming months so stay tuned for that!

Because I focused so much more on work I slacked on my social media and blog. I think that is okay to take a step back, it can bring you back stronger and reignite the need for a creative outlet.

My Designer Wishlist

I recently wrote a similar post like this one and I thought it would be a good idea to follow up! I brought together a few of my items from my designer wishlist and thought I would share.

I remember wanting to buy myself a designer handbag with my very first big girl check. That obviously did not happen because I live in LA and instead I have to use it towards rent. I am currently saving up for Coachella so I am not seeing any of these items in my near future. However, one day (sooner than later) I will buy myself a new luxury item and it will be so much better because I had to wait.

Link Lovin

I’ve really been enjoying reading digital fashion articles and I wanted to share a few of my favorites in this week’s Link Lovin’. I honestly just like to go through my twitter discover page under the fashion section and see what’s new. If nothing strikes me right away, I scurry over to the search bar and type in whatever publication pops into my mind first; Paper, Who What Wear, Nylon is always a favorite.

One of my favorite articles and the reason I want a “Bushwick Burkin

Nylon’s It Girl Victoria Pedretti’s interview is so interesting… and did I mention she is only 24?

I want to read ‘American Dirt‘ and here is why

When Does your

When I put on this outfit I thought it would be a little too old for me. Sometimes I have to remind myself that I am 24 years old and I think if I am too old for the teeny-bopper looks or if I am too young to be dressing like someone with an established career. I think I should be dressing as if I were in my thirties sometimes because you want to set yourself up for success… however, if I grow my abs you can definitely catch me in some hip huggers!

At what age do you have to change your style?

Does it depend on the trend and making it fit your body type? Making it merge into your own personal style? Where is the line drawn before your family and friends call in Stacy London for a wardrobe makeover?

I remember going over to my highschool boyfriend’s house once and his mom came out wearing one of her 16-year-old daughter’s dresses! I’m not sure how they fit into the same size dress but even my mom was appalled when she opened the door in a zebra printed number! Now that one was obvious, but for me I think the lines are blurred.

Right now I think I can pull off both and wear whatever I would like, probably around thirty things will change, and in a good way as well. I probably won’t want to wear the same pieces anyway!

One Blazer Two Ways

I, of course, was going through the after Christmas sales and I stumbled upon Forever 21. You have to know that Forever 21 for me is like a thrift store, I have to dig to find the golden piece. They were having a 50% off sale so I went in for some staple pieces and to look around. My eyes fixated on this Persian blue velveteen blazer that I did not believe was real. Even if that blazer was not half off I would have bought it in a heartbeat! To say I won the jackpot was an understatement, I had found my golden piece!

Because I love this piece so much, I just had to style it multiple ways! So check out these outfit inspo shots that I totally came up with by myself… with no help from any source… especially not Pinterest… because I definitely did not type in “Velvet Blazer Outfit”. But I will give myself credit for the boots combo because I think these boots will go with anything and I love the contrast of the pieces itself but they are not too flamboyant as they are both darker colors so they go well together.

I love the blazer trend right now because it will go from work to casual day out with a super cool feel. It’s one of those things you throw on and you automatically look more than put together, you look stylish. Ugh I actually hate that word tbh, but it fit. Whatever you choose to wear under it, or lack thereof, it just works.

One of the good things about the GOLDEN FIND was that it was long enough for me to wear without anything under. While I still have to wear spanks for when I bend over, it looks totally cool and trendy and makes my legs look amazing!

Your Own Timeline

I’ve been seeing a lot of New Year posts and posts about the previous decade. It got me thinking about what I have done in the past year/decade. I am working on comparing myself to others and that is basically what this post is about. Everyone has their own timeline. While I am busy comparing myself to those that have done more, there are people wishing that they were in my spot. That is so important to remember.

I remember thinking that you’re supposed to go to school, graduate college, get married, buy a house and then have kids. While I mean that could still happen for me in that order, I know a lot of people that are already married, already have kids and do not own a house. So who is to say what is right and what is wrong? Who is to say you’re not supposed to end up with someone or that’s not how it’s supposed to happen? There is no instruction manual and while that works for most people that does not mean that is how it has to go.

Your timeline is about whatever you want it to be. And even then sometimes you cannot control that. You meet who you should when you should. You move when you want to. You adopt a dog when your lonely, or a baby when you’re ready. At the end of the day, it’s about a mix of fate and faith.
