I’m 24 years old today! Crazy to think that I have been alive for 24 years and I hope to be blessed with many more years to come. I had a great time celebrating back home this past weekend for my 24th with my friends and family. And then tonight I am going to celebrate with some of my new LA friends.
I thought I would do a fun shoot for my birthday with some creative shots that are a bit different than just a casual #ootd! I actually saw something similar on Instagram and I went to a craft store and made a crown, bought a yard and a half of tulle, and then a new dress from Topshop. Can I just say how thankful I am to Nordstrom for keeping the Topshop at the Grove?! So glad that huge store is there!
I was sooo happy to go home for the weekend. I have been really missing home and I really know what it’s like now to be homesick. I miss Texas so much from the people in general to the food. I am so glad I moved and experienced new things, but I definitely see myself moving back home!
Tuesday my actual birthday I have plans to go to a karaoke bar with all of my blogger friends and co-workers and just have fun. I feel like usually, a nice dinner would be better, but I wanted to do something different and get to hang out with the girls and just have fun! I am so blessed to have been able to celebrate both back home and here in LA.

I’ve seen similar pictures all over social media so I wanted to take a crack at it myself! (That’s the phrase, right?) I usually HATE the way my hair looks when it’s pulled back, but the towel gives the illusion of hair so I thought it was super cool! I love the glam feel of it and while there are a few things I would change about these pictures, I am still relatively happy about how they came out!
So let’s get right into the post. It’s about body positivity and if I am being honest, I was not very body positive about this shoot! I feel bloated, and a bit insecure. But, let me tell you, once I got in the water and felt how good it felt, I forgot all about that! That my dears is what life is all about. While I am still going to work my little tush off to be back to where I want to be, it is important to be happy with the body you’re in no matter what part of your fitness journey you are at.
Even on bloated days like this, I am actually SUPER comfortable in my body. I remember in middle school a girl in my guidance class said that even though her older sister was bigger, she was still so comfortable in her body and she envied that. I thought to myself that I would not feel comfortable if I was as big as her sister was, though she was not huge.
Our guidance counselor said that most girls get to an age when they are just comfortable where they are at and while they may sill strive to be better, they still don’t mind wearing a bikini at the beach or cute mini skirts to show off! I thought, no, if I’m not small I wouldn’t feel that way.
I am happy to report that I have gotten to that point in like that my counselor was talking about! What helps keep it all in perspective as well is to remember what a blessing it is to have a working body, or a body at all.
My favorite body-positive Instagram accounts:
I am on the fence about if I would wear this to work, Fully clothed of course! But honestly the more I look at these pictures the more I am convinced that I should definitely do it! I always have a weird feeling wearing blazers for some reason. While I LOVE the way they look on me, I feel like I am playing dress-up since I always remember my momma wearing blazers to work. So to me, I am not at that point in my life quite yet, so I feel like I look extra. While this is probably all in my mind, I thought it would be a good idea to reflect on just when it is a good idea to be extra.
What is something you would feel like your ‘doing the most’ if you were to wear?
There are multiple times I think it is just a good idea to be extra
- Going out to a club for a fun night with friends
- Going on a first date (somewhere nice of course)
- On a birthday or special occasions like a graduation or other celebration
- When you really just feel like wearing something different!
My style ranges SO much! I love being able to try on a new look and not have to stick to one aesthetic. However, sometimes when I wear something that is more chic, or drastic, or dresses up, I do get more stares or more compliments or whatever it may be. While it doesn’t bother me, I do feel a bit weird because I always want my outfits to kind of be on the same level. This just isn’t possible though when your style ranges so much!
Let’s talk about this look. I was gifted this super chic set from Showpo! I am so blessed to have the opportunity to work with such a cool company, especially one that I have been shopping from for years!
I love the classic plaid because it looks great not only on my skin tone, but pretty much everyone’s as well! It even has shoulder pads which seriously made me think of my mom’s old blazers! The piece is thin but sturdy so I know I will be able to keep these pieces for a long time. The thing about a killer set like this is that you can wear it so many different ways! Together, separate, with jeans or with a tank, the possibilities are endless!

This is a bit more of a dressy casual look for me. Perfect for the weekend in LA! I am always in a white tee and jeans so this was an easy one for me. One thing I definitely did was add cool accessories to complete the look. I am all for a simplistic look and this belt bag really made it functional.
Almost all of this outfit was gifted from Lulu’s! I was so happy to be able to collaborate with a brand that I love so much and I really shop at. I have been truly blessed to be collaborating with more brands that I truly love and want to share with all of my followers. I love being able to be creative and show off some outfit inspiration and wear something fun or cool for everyone.
I posted a video of me practicing my poses on my stories on Instagram, did you see them?
I shot these pictures on Rodeo on a Sunday which is like a huge tourist spot. I thought it would be a good shoot though because I always want to wear my outfits in a real situation and write about where you can actually wear them. This is something that I would repeat and wear on another weekend out because these shoes are so easy to walk in, I don’t have to hold the bag, and the sunglasses are a must for LA. This tee is going to be on repeat all Summer/Fall because of the high neckline.
