What I’ve Learned from Blogging

My blog has honestly come a long way since the small hobby I posted on probably once a month my freshman year of college. While I still like to call it a hobby, I don’t think people realize how much work I put into it. From planning out the post, to shooting, commenting on others blogs and constantly posting on Instagram, it’s harder than it looks. I am glad this is my hobby though and something that I get to focus on and develop. I get to look back at this and remember exactly who shot my pictures that day, where I was and how I felt. While the outfits are a big passion for me, so is the experience itself and trying to push myself to make it better and better.

I would not recommend blogging for everyone, and I really wouldn’t want everyone to have a blog either since it is kinda my thing. But there are a few important lessons I’ve learned along the way that have helped me grow as a person.

  1. Only compare yourself to yourself : get inspiration from others, but always strive to be better than yourself. There will always be someone “better” than you, so just cut out the negativity and focus on how you can improve yourself, no one else really matters.
  2. Persistence : So many bloggers stop blogging because they get busy or burnt out, I post consistently and try to keep my blog going even on the days when I don’t feel like it. I am always looking for new ideas to blog about.
  3. Not everyone is going to approve : I don’t can’t tell you how many “jokes” have been told to me about me having a blog, and while it used to get annoying I just brush it off now. I am doing something I like to do and filling my free time. If you don’t like it then don’t look, but at least I am doing something positive and FUN with my life.
