Statement Pieces : Leather

My favorite part about making an outfit is a statement piece. I honestly just look for statement pieces whenever I shop and then throw some basics on with it to compliment it. Whether it be embroidered denim, a flashy clutch, or thigh highs, there should always be a main piece. It is easy to spot a main piece because it is the part of the outfit you know will get the most compliments. That is how I judge whether a piece is cute enough is if it is something people do not often see. Leather is definitely one of those materials that is usually a great statement piece!

Can we just talk about this skirt for a sec? Like not only is it the perfect faux leather, but I am obsessed with the ruffles! The ruffles add a feminine touch which I am definitely all about! I love it and I cannot get enough ruffles! Also, the way the dress flaps over at the front is one of my favorite features as well. This look went well with a plain gray tee and booties which are my basic pieces to compliment my statement piece. Having too many statement pieces in one outfit can get to gaudy or take away the attention from the other piece, a good mix is everything!

My Favorite Fall Trends

Happy Monday Loves!

As a little break from all of the outfit posts, I’m sharing some of my favorite trends this fall. Of course there are cardigans and cute fall hats that come up every year. A flannel or two is of course a must, but some of the current trends for this season have caught my eye. I’m also thinking of making a similar post for some of these items for splurge or steal, so let me know in the comments if that’s something you would like to see!

Ankle Boots

I just bought these exact shoes but in a similar color and I am totally in love! It took me a while to buy a pair honestly because I was not too sure how they would look on me, but the extra height of the material looked awesome! They are so chic and can really dress up an outfit. I bought these from Steve Madden (of course) and I received so many compliments on them! View the post HERE.

Vests/Dusters

Dusters are something that are definitely a statement piece. While dusters are not a piece for someone like me because I am too short, they are definitely a great piece for fall. Long vests are also something that I am kind of into right now, I’m just not sure they are something I can pull off. BUT a great nude or light pink is just my style.

Ripped Denim

I am obsessed with a perfectly ripped pair of jeans right now! A good slightly slouchy pair with an over sized sweater and I fall in love. These are from Showpo, and while I am used to buying almost everything online, the perfect pair of jeans need to be tried on to see if it fits exactly how you want them to.

Bell Sleeves and Ruffles

I was going to find a sweater with either just ruffles or just bell sleeves, then I found this one & I had to show it! I’m not too crazy about the color, however I do love the piece itself. Pairing this with a cute jean skirt or just jeans and booties, you’ll definitely be set.

Sweater Dresses

I just featured my off the shoulder sweater dress in one of my latest posts (linked in ankle boots) and I cannot be more in love! Honestly it kept me warm and I was comfy enough to walk around without worrying about it coming up or looking too frumpy. Honestly dresses are such a great go-to because they are easy to throw on and look great and a sweater dress is no exception! A darker color is of course perfect far Fall and would even look great for Winter.

Fall out of Summer

Transition season may be over, but Texas sure does not know that. I feel like I am always commenting on Texas weather but it is hard to completely switch your closet when the weather is so up and down. So I am adding a few tips on how to mix up your wardrobe for Spring to Fall to everything in between.

My dress is clearly a Summer dress but the day I wore it, it was honestly pretty humid outside. The necklace I wore with the dress was more of a Fall piece in my opinion and it matched my shoes. Honestly throwing on a cardi is just such an easy way to make a lot of outfits more fall ready.

Some Transition Tips

  1. Keep your statement piece in season : Your main piece should be a sweater for fall or some pearl jeans
  2. Add a dark cardigan over a summer dress : Just make sure the colors are complementary like the blue in my dress and the navy in the cardi
  3. Mix in some fall colors : A crop top is definitely do-able for fall as long as it is a nice maroon, dark purple or mustard yellow
  4. Booties : Booties can make even a jean and tank top look more of a fall look even if it is warm outside
  5. Dark Accessories : Wear a darker lip or a big brown carry-all for all with a thick fall hat to transform the entire outfit

Purple and Pumpkins

Happy late Halloween! Halloween may be over but the pumpkin season has just begun! I love the cold weather and the fall colors, orange, yellow, and brown oh my! As for my wardrobe, fall brings many mustard yellows, army greens, and maroon for days! I love how each season brings a new reason to wear a new color. Whether it be bright for Summer, or muted for Winter there are so many unique colors to wear that you never have to wear the same thing.

I admittedly found this sweater dress on another bloggers site. I fell in love and had to have it! The color just looks great on my skin tone I think and the simple gold details are my fave! I cannot get enough of this outfit because not only was it super cute but it kept me warm as well! The booties are comfy too and I so love the ankle boots trend!
